Solar powered homes of the future

‘Net zero’ means achieving a balance between the carbon emitted into the atmosphere, and the carbon removed from it. In the UK, heating and hot water for buildings make up 40% of our energy consumption and 20% of our greenhouse gas emissions. Replacing or offsetting heating fuelled by gas, oil or ‘dirty’ electricity with renewable sources reduces these emissions.
